Good Omens BBC miniseries in 2013

Reporting directly from Neil Gaiman’s blogGood Omens, the fagnificent spawn of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, is being adapted for television by Terry Jones (Monty Python) and Gavin Scott (Small Soldiers). The producer will be Rod Brown, who already lead the BBC versions of Terry Pratchett’s Hogfather and The Colour of Magic. He did a great job capturing the fantastic and gritty ambientation of Discworld’s characters, and I am sure that this coming in 2013 BBC miniseries will be up to the fan base expectations.

Tha Mo Ghaol Air Àird A’ Chuain
Julie Fowlis

I heard this song in the trailer of Pixar’s upcoming movie Brave. So I searched around the net and found the title and meaning.

This song is a Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhlig) song. The song is beautiful. And if you read the meaning, it’ll be much more.

Below I’ll post the translation. And of course, the link to the original lyrics.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

My Love Is On the High Seas

On a quiet evening at the beginning of May
When the bat was in the skies
I heard a tearful young maiden
Singing beneath the shadow of the green branches
The sun was setting in the sea
And no stars yet graced the sky
When the young girl sang sorrowfully
"My love is on the high seas"

The night's dew began to fall
Each bloom yielding softly to the droplets
The wind blew in a fragrant breeze
Bringing life and renewal to each field
The girl tunefully sang her song
Quiet and peaceful like the June dew
And this chorus constantly repeated
"My love is on the high seas"

Day darkened and the stars shone
Setting their course amongst the clouds
The maiden sat, burdened by her sadness
Her singing could not have been more soothing
I moved closer to the young woman
Singing of her love sailing on the sea
Oh sweet was her sad lament
"My love is on the high seas"

The music enticed me
Nearer to the brown-haired maiden of the warm eyes
And she prayed to the King of Heaven
"Protect my love on the high seas"
Her heart was breaking with love
When I took her by the hand
"Wipe your eyes, your love is safe
I have returned to you from the high seas."

Is ANYBODY a fan of Twelve Kingdoms? Seriously, this fandom is tiny and I need someone to geek out with.

I like to think this is a small but a together forever kind of fandom that meets up sporadically once every full moon.

Last week, I received Akihiro Yamada’s illustration of a kirin. The rough line art alone was already amazing, but the colored version is just so impressive and exciting.

The finishing touches are now being applied to the cover for “Demon Child”. It looks intense! It’s been 20 years since I’ve worked on this book. Things like typos and bad wording have been corrected now.

Yesterday’s “spring storm” was pretty bad, wasn’t it? Were you all able to get home safely? There were many tweets saying “Surely, this is a shoku!” Of course…I predicted this result.

The cover for “Shadow of the Moon, Sea of the Shadow” will be finished soon. When I saw the rough sketch, Youko’s presence completely overwhelmed me. I hope it meets your expectations as well!

The cherry blossoms in Tokyo have bloomed. Comments such as “I wonder if Rokuta comes to see the cherry blossoms” are truly healing.
